15 years waldo’s blog

Hi y’all. Get ready for the most useless post you’ll read all day. Not to me, though. I’d like to share a proud moment with you awesome people.

Today, I’m blogging for 15 years !

I remember back in the day when I got my MVP Award, I was so proud that I actually wanted to give back to the community. I know, “wanting to give back” after I received an award because “giving back” sounds a bit weird .. but I felt I could do more, I guess.

Therefore, I decided to start blogging. Even more – I decided to set a goal for myself: at least one post (with what I thought was decent content) per month. 15 years later I can tell you, there is not a single month in the last 15 years where I missed that goal :-). I’m not saying it’s always interesting (but I try..). Sometimes it’s a rant, sometimes it’s my opinion, sometimes it’s a tool, sometimes it’s completely useless .. but EVERY time, it’s with conviction, it’s my own opinion of what I see, know, experience, .. and think is worth sharing.

So, yes, I’m proud ;-).

I do realize the pace of my blogging has come down a bit – and that’s simply because SO MANY PEOPLE are blogging these days. Absolutely awesome! So much valuable content is out there, in awesome quality. Not only blog posts, also youtube videos, tweets, discord, .. and so much more. It’s hard to keep up, and at the same time, it totally isn’t. Keep it coming, I’d say 😉.

Some fun facts …

Until 2013, I was blogging on DynamicsUser.Net, but it seems that they removed the blogposts from their site – so I lost those (well, I still have them in my local library though). I don’t have any statistics for those first (about) 5 years, but since I moved to my own WordPress Site in february 2013, I do have a few fun ones:

I’ve written a total of 628 blogposts in 15 years. That’s an average of 3.49 blogposts per month :-).

Since 2013, I shared 305835 words. That’s an average of 941 words per post.

These words were read by 699633 visitors (probably not unique 🤪) in 1530980 views.

A total of 5126 followers get some kind of message, mail, notification, .. when I put up a new post: 149 wordpress followers, 1332 subscribers and 3645 followers on social media. That is absolutely amazing and I hope that whatever I put up, is worth your time (ok ok, except this one ;-)).

Well – that’s it. It’s has been quite a ride – and I’m still enjoying it, so let’s see how many years we can add ;-).

Have an awesome day!

waldo out!

You definitely can be proud! Although I am a functional consultant I still like to check your mostly technical Blogs (to a certain level :-)). Because there is always something to learn even if you do not completely understand all the bits and bytes. Good job Waldo!!
